LEOPARD!!!

It’s finally here! For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about click here. I braved the lines at the Nashville Apple Store to be one of the first. (Actually I just wanted the free t-shirt!) First reaction after 30 minutes: Amazing. 300+ new features. Here are my favorites:

  • Quick Look – This is the start of something crazy. Not having to open any programs to view your files (virtually all files, any format) = time saver.
  • SMS Messaging from iChat – Another time saver. I can still type faster on a keyboard than a phone, so anytime I need to send a quick text to someone away from their desk, bam!
  • To-do List, Notes, and RSS Feeds in Mail – The to-do list and notes will help me a bunch, the RSS feed just a bonus.
  • Stacks – No more spending an extra click closing the Finder!

There are little things here and there that will take time to get used to (or maybe even get fixed), but overall a very solid OS X.

FOR GEEKS ONLY

The install went smooth as butter until the end. After it had installed and restarted, everything went crazy. The menu bar was missing, the Finder wouldn’t open. Craziness. Thankfully, a quick restart solved everything. The only issue I have come across so far is that the iChat and Photobooth camera resolution looks HORRIBLE. I am using a Logitech Ultra Vision, and the pictures and video chats looked great before. More to come as I experience the little details. I love the big icons and the new dock. Be sure to click the picture above for a full-screen look.

Red Sox vs. Rockies

October 21, 2007 at 10:25 pm (Baseball)

Well it’s final. The Red Sox beat out the Indians in an excited game 7. Now things get interesting. Will the Rockies still be on fire after a long break? What happens if they lose Game 1? Will it get the best of them? Can Boston actually take on the Rockies and win the Series? Hmmm….

It finally happened. After all these years, the Colorado Rockies are going to the World Series. After facing a lot of criticism for their desire to promote Christian ideas in the locker room (if you haven’t heard about it, check this out), the Rockies closed the mouths of critics with a massive 21 wins in their last 22 games, and a trip to the World Series. Congrats, Rockies.

Pumpkin Carving with the Ligon’s

Tonight Paul, Andrew and I went down to Spring Hill to carve pumpkins with the Ligon’s. Kelli (our children’s minister), and her husband Scott were kind enough to provide us with some amazing chili and chocolate cake. Kate, their daughter just cracks me up! I think she had a lot of fun. Our all-star lineup of pumpkins is above. Take a second and thank God for the great friends He has given you, and the fellowship you get to share!

I Love October Baseball!!!

There is nothing in sports that excites me more than October baseball. I love baseball, and I love the Red Sox. Here’s what excites me about this year – there is a possibility the Red Sox and the Rockies will play in the World Series. I lived in Colorado for the first 17 1/2 years of my life, so I have a natural attachment to the Rockies. But Boston is my team… Needless to say, this could be interesting!

Focus Weekend

October 9, 2007 at 8:01 am (Church, Food, Friends)

Focus Weekend

I just got back from our student ministry’s fall trip. We went to Camp Livingstones in Englewood, Tennessee. This camp has been around for 10 years, and was basically built entirely by students. We had a good time. We talked about some serious issues like being honest and not living a fake Christian life. I am anxious to see if it sticks now that we are back home. I took my camera for a ride on the zip-line, so I will definitely post that footage when I have time. And the food, well it was hands down the best camp food I have ever had at a camp. Ever.
